GPS Tracking app recs

I need a gps tracking app that actually works and gives accurate locations. Have tried GPS tracker, life 360, and real time gps tracker. real time is far to complex. The others are tied together and will give locations 15 miles from where the phone is actually at. Don't mind paying for an app that really works. Must noy be dependent on phone signal strength.

Thanks

If you're getting a 15 mile error, you're not getting the GPS reading, you're getting the location of the phone's IP address, which is the carrier's entry point into the internet. The phone's GPS has to be enabled to get the GPS location. (I've found that my phones give me a reading that's within 10 feet or so when GPS is enabled.) Most of these apps have no way of remotely turning on the phone's GPS, so if the phone user knows what's what, he can turn off the GPS and render the program pretty useless.

Yeah we have both stand alone and google services gps enabled on both phones and get that kind of discrepency in the location. Neither one is turning off their gps because if they did the location wouldn't come up at all. Have everything set exactly like the makers of the app say to and still get bad locates.
Here's an example. My wife and I spent the weekend together. Our phones in the same building or side by side. Hers showed fairly accurate while mine showed I went on a grand tour of the county. We never left each others side which is why we need an app that actually works.

Using 1 rated GPS tracker/life 360. HTC incredible 4G lte and Motorola Razr M

Ironhead, you should check out LocaToWeb which is known to be accurate. It is a real time tracker that shares your position data to locatoweb.com where friends and family can follow your movements live. You track under an Alias which makes you completly anonymous, or you can choose to do private tracks. App's for Android, ios and win phone 8.

Ironhead, my favorite GPS apps are GPS status and OruxMaps. I'm investigating PDF maps right now.

I use GPS status to help my phone use it's built in GPS chips to get a fast fix. OruxMaps is pretty much a full featured GPS app within which you can create and save maps for off network use. You can create tracks and waypoints with it to export in the popular formats and even upload to most if not all the popular map sharing sites. Everytrail is the one I use.

PDF Maps is a new find for me and allows one to use USGS (USFS) 1:24,000 maps.

BTW, all these are free apps.

good luck
