GPS Vehicle Tracker?

Are there any GPS Vehicle Tracker apps in the market that work? For example, install a tracking app onto the persons phone, secretly, and have it relay there whereabouts to my phone or an online map of some sorts? An app that will working in the background without them knowing its on?

Is this even possible? Or would I have to leave my phone in the car while they go out? I can't really afford an actually GPS Tracking unit that your place inside the car or under it. Every one I seem to find is $200 or more.

I know this sounds strange but its important, very important. Thanks guys.

Tracking someone's phone or vehicle without their knowing about it is highly illegal. Of course, if it is your vehicle then yes, there's plenty of $200 systems available. If it is one of your minor children on your family phone plan, your carrier may have some options for you.

Depends on how smart the other user is. If they don't know much about the phone, turn on Google latitude. Add that number to your friends and it will let you see them on google maps. Isn't real time, lags by an hour or so.
