Help GPS with Rogers - Ottawa, Montreal,Toronto

kcau

Newbie
I have GPS in both cars so a working NAV on the Galaxy is not super important to me .... however, since the phone should be GPS capable i might as well try it.

I seem to be having trouble gaining the location .... is some setup required?

That's a very well known issue with this phone and all the variants. We're not even certain that a software update will fix it but it is what everyone should ask for. There is a 2.2 being pushed out just now so you should ask Rogers to allow it asap. But they have already hinted that is won't be until at least mid next year.

that being said, it can work if you get an initial lock under an open sky. Turn on GPS and load maps to get started.

Froyo 2.2 in the UK has without doubt fixed the gps.
It is in fact perfect.
If you can update using odin then go for it.
