Hello, I am interested in buying either the Defy or Samsung Galaxy Ace and would like to ask users of the Ace their opinon. As well as the obvious phone calls & text, my main application will be GPS & navigation. Can users of the phone tell me if the GPS gets a reliable quick lock on satellites and maintains the fix?

Thanx

gps works a treat on mine,i use the built in sat nav loads when driving and it always keeps a fixed lock.

I use Sygic GPS Navigator. You can download every map you want and it tracks your position very well (: Battery lifetime is doable, drains less then the pre-installed navigator that uses Google Maps (:

I have bought the Samsung Galaxy ACE and so far am please with it. I have used google maps and navigation, but found it slow to download the route & maps using 3G. So I am looking into getting some navigation software with preinstalled maps. I looked and the reviews of CoPilot Live 8, Navigon & Sygic, but havn't come to a decision yet. Would you recommend Sygic GPS Navigator? Or indeed any other navigation app?

I'm pleased with Sygic, haven't tried copilot yet.
It has a lot of options, nice interface, not slow, every map you want,...

I wasn't looking for the best navigator, just one that doesn't need an internet connection when you want to use it. Sygic was the first app that i found, i'm glad with it, so no need to try an other navigator, so i can't recommend you something when i haven't tried the rest, sry (:

Definitely worth getting a car charger cable and plugging it into the Ace when running GPS for periods over 1hr - just as you would a Tomtom.

Very happy with mine and really like 'GPS Essentials' app (free from the market)

Hi,

I am using Samsung Galaxy Ace.
I would like to know how to use GPS Navigation when Wifi is not available.

I have GPRS enabled. I could browse through websites using GPRS connection but not able to use Google Maps or GPS Navigation using GPRS connection.

I am able to use GPS Navigation or Maps without any issues if I use Wifi at home or office.

Please guide me if there are any settings need to be changed or enabled.

Regards,
