I am currently a graduate student and besides being a software developer, I am also deeply involved in Machine Learning researches that make lots of use of smartwatch sensors esp. in detecting human activities. These sensors are extremely useful as an added benefit of having smartwatches. There are tonnes of stuff we can achieve with them.

I want to welcome you to Android Forums. Sounds like exciting work you are working. Is this your graduate thesis? In addition to the work I do, I am also an ordained minister and I pastored a couple of Doctoral candidates at Princeton University, who were also also doing interesting work in the Engineering Department. They were engineers. The stress was high but the rewards were great. They successfully defended their theses and are now PhDs in engineering. Good luck to you! I hope you can find good tips as well as great help from our wonderful community, here!
 
I am glad to hear that. Yes, this is part of my PhD research. There is a whole range of activities we can detect using smart wearables, and smartwatches today provide very affordable hardware that comes as a package of sorts.

Glad to hear you were involved in making contributions in developing experts. The world relies on such products to develop solutions to the world's problems.

One of my guys was a literal rocket scientist. We're talking about projects that are Albert Einstein level! No joke!

I also got into android while pursuing academic studies. It seems like those beginnings were forever ago but I ended up getting a PhD as well.
 
Nice to meet you here! I am a student and Machine Learning is my major too. What areas of research except of smartwatch sensors use are you interested in?
Machine Learning researches that make lots of use of smartwatch sensors? I am working on the wireless system based on magnetic induction for my college project.
