Great article on why 4G LTE really drains the battery

I have a question about the part of the article about talking with LTE phones...

Anandtech usually does very in depth reviews of tech. And the RAZR and Bionic has the highest talk times for Android phones on Verizon....both LTE phones. And the batteries are 1700 mAh. Its not like the 1900 one in the Atrix. They both also have longer take time battery life than the other 3G only Motorola phones too...all that arent LTE. Again the batteries arent that much bigger than what came with the Droid X1.

The G Nex is at the bottom for talk times of LTE phones according to that Bench tool...almost at the bottom vs. 3G phones too. Its not on this list but its on their Bench tool. Checked in at 6.2 hours talk time.

If thats the case....if I had a Bionic or RAZR and switched to 3G only the talk times should be higher according to this LTE article. Or am I missing something?

EDIT: answered my own question...the Bionic did post higher talk times with just CDMA only:

Comforting to see that VZW choice for LTE was apparently not a particularly good one...at least as far as battery life goes. :(

It was really the only choice they had. I applaud them for deploying so aggressively.

Probably true. So perhaps the first choice of going CDMA was the poor choice and locked them in to more poor choices down the road. I guess there was no way to cut their losses short.

May I suggest reading the history of mobile technology and why certain carriers went with CDMA a few decades ago.
