In any case, if you followed more updated news on this, you would have seen this on 10/4/11 with HTC's response:

Also, most ROMs already have this 'feature' removed. A good number of TB owners aren't at risk if that's the case.

I agree with the Op. Hearing about this security flaw has me thinking twice about staying with Android. Or maybe just HTC.

Your alternative is iOS where this type of data is already shared. There is no security problem like this when your information wasn't intended to be secure in the first place.
