Help green tint on camera flash - SOLVED

hi

just bought a second hand htc one x for my wife. all ok apart from the green tint to all pictures taken with the flash indoors.

googling shows its a common problem, but i cant find a solution. do i need to root it and instal a different rom? or is there some sort of update or fix for this now?

thanks

My Mrs has a similar problem. Is yours using a case? If I take the case off hers it improves it somewhat.

Try another camera app too, Camera Zoom FX is pretty good.

no, she doesnt have a fixed case, just a leather pouch for protection.

ill try that app then thanks, and report back :-)

I'm very pro root anyway, but if you're out of warranty, there's no harm.

I'm not entirely sure it will fix it, but there's no harm in giving it a go.

Do you know what you're doing? I'm talking someone else through the process here so feel free to read through some of the stuff I've linked there and ask if you have any questions.

ive rooted my desire hd, but that was a couple of years ago and i cant really remember how i did it, so ill have a look at your post first, and get back to you if my wife wants me to mess around with it :-)

thanks

had a read of that thread thanks mate. can you just let me know if i can connect the phone to pc and replace the dodgy file on the phone with drag and drop etc, or do i need to root the phone first to make any changes.

thanks a lot

a bump on the green tint issue please. my wifes phone isnt rooted. ive downloaded the zip file above. how can i instal it to my wifes phone to see if itll work?

thanks

It looks like you need to be rooted and have a custom recovery installed for that to work.
thanks. i worked on the phone for several hours last night, unlocking bootloader and then rooting. i installed viper rom which went ok. as soon as i installed the green tint fix from zip tho, it wouldnt reboot. it hangs with a system fault.
i then have to wipe everything and restore my nandroid, which obviously doesnt include the fix.

would you be able to help me out any more please?

thanks

ive just found out my mate has an HTC One X too, but no camera problem. is there anything i can check or 'copy and paste' into my wifes phone from my mates? im thinking overwriting a file or something?

thanks

Is the fix confirmed and working for that particular version of Viper? What was the exact error message when you rebooted after flashing?

no, nowhere says that that fix works with viper, i just hoped it would. ive found what appears to be a different fix here

i cant remember what the error said now, id have to do it again, but ill probably try this new file next, and make note of the error this time if it doesnt work.

thanks a lot

Cool, keep me posted.

I note from the OP that it might conflict with any other camera tweaks and I seem to remember Venom having a no compress option?

I didn't realise it was as bad as that, is your tint as pronounced as some of the screenshots in that thread?

absolutely awful, worse in some!

yep, ill post back on here when i get chance to try it, might not be for a couple of days or so yet.

thanks
