Lurker
I recently switched to the Android platform after using rim for the last 12 years. It was a short, but harsh learning curve that resulted in me ditching the Verizon Droid 2 for the slider Droid 3. The stress induced by attempting to adjust to a touch keyboard shortened my lifespan by at least two years. I'm happily a droid convert and am now attempting to increase my emotional intelligence along with making it work the way I think (or been brainwashed by rim). So I've returned to this forum on several occasions and actually focused on the graphic presented to me which asked me to say something and not lurk. Hello, this is me not lurking. My current task is getting all my sms text onto my pc in order to transcribe certain conversations. One thing that really irks me at the moment is the seamingly difficult way to prevent apps from read of my contacts. I want nothing reading that data except me and my Outlook. So eventually, I'll find ways to install Facebook, etc. and restrict access to contacts. Also, as a Verizon user, I'd love to remove "Backup Assistant" in order to have the Outlook account, the only thing appearing and syncing to my handheld. Possibly, I'm wanting droid to work the way I am accustomed to. READ: If I smart enough and spend enough time in these forums, my smart phone will be dumbed down enough to make me happy. So how's all that for not lurking? Oh yea, HOWDY Y'ALL!

Hey ssewb, there are plenty of smart people here that can help you tweak your phone to the way you want.

Can start by checking out here if you haven't found it already:

Welcome to the land of non-lurkers, glad you joined us!

One of the first things I had to learn to let go of was direct syncing to and from Outlook. There are third party apps (DejaOffice, mOffice are a few) which will perform this function now and some of the manufacturers may have added it but when I started with Android it was a no-go so I just got myself used to the G-Mail sync and haven't gone back. Whatever solution you decide upon I am sure it will make you happy with your new found Androidness!
