Hi all,

I recently bought my first smart phone, and have no idea how to optimize it. I can USE it...but I don't know how to maintain it, tweak it, ect.

There are so many options out there, and I'm afraid I'll screw up the phone if I just start downloading miscellaneous crap hoping it will do something helpful.

My phone is a Samsung Stratosphere, and I figured I'd join a community to learn what I can do to make this thing work the way it is meant to. I look forward to meeting all of you!

Welcome to the forums,Igg! It depends on what you want your new phone to do. I see that you found our stratosphere forums so that's a great start. You've heard that old saying...there's an app for that. Just so you know more than likely that's true. Check out the Android market and use keywords to search for something you like.

Enjoy your phone!

Thanks for the response, xmr.

It's not so much finding fun apps as it is deciding which functional app to use. For example, I had no problem finding a barcode scanner or Angry Birds, but I don't know what app killer/battery saver is best. Or antivirus, or updator.

A good email client would be awesome as well. I have the Gmail app, and would be happy to use it, but I can't seem to get it to work. It seems the phone is determined to use the default app that came with the phone (I think. The lady at verizon set everything up). I'd be ok using the default, but I have 500 emails in the inbox, most junk, and can't seem to delete them all at once. I can sit there and delete each one seperately, but I'm pretty sure I'd need carpral tunnel surgery after that, lol.

Bottom line, I guess, is that I need help learning how to keep my new phone uncluttered. I'm thinking this is much like a small computer, and will need similar maintenance to keep it running smoothly.
