Greetings From the Womb!

Why the womb? Because I'm so new to this I haven't been born yet. I've been reading countless threads on Rooting and ROM and Kernels and Nand etc. ad nauseum and my head is spinning, but I still have one question that I can't find answered.

I am purchasing my EVO in a couple of weeks. I LOVE that I can get "bloatware" (another term I've learned) off my phone and really make it my own. I LOVE that I can activate the WiFi feature without giving Sprint an extra $30. What I don't love is that I can't find anything that tells me the answer to this question:

What ROM (?) or RUU (?) or whatever chain of file names or procedures, let's me keep the phone exactly the way I get it out of the box (Sense UI, basic features) but let's me add the WiFi feature to it?

That's all I want to do! I just want to unlock that feature and maybe add the app that let's me sync iTunes wirelessly. Is there a short version? Can someone post a CLEAR, CONCISE and LAYMAN friendly set of steps that I can follow? I don't want to change the OS or the wallpapers or delve any deeper than that. Can someone PLEASE help me with this?

Thanks in advance,
Thoroughly confused - AndroidSteve

Welcome to the Android Forums!

I may be wrong but I thought it was WiFi tethering that had to be enabled at additional cost...
