Help Grey 4G and phone signal

I noticed every now and then my 4G and phone signal go from blue to Grey what does this mean?

I believe that it means that the signal isn't connected to the android market don't you have ice cream sandwich

Yeah it's ics when ever it's Grey my data acts up ill look threw my book I got with the phone

Yeah because whenever your phones internet connection is disabled and renabled its going to be grey until it connects with the android market

Gray = apps are not using your internet connection.

Blue = apps are using your internet connection in the background.
