Group Messaging App

[Android Question]

I have just switched over to the Samsung Galaxy from the IPhone. On the Iphone I had the Group Text app. This app would allow me to send group messages to a group of people, but it did not take over the stock messaging app on my phone, nor combine the contacts placed in the app, with my personal contacts. Can any one suggest an app that works like this on the Android platform?

I have no iPhone knowledge, so can't compare, but Hangouts will do what you want. There is no multiple selection of recipients like you might expect. If you have group messaging enabled in Settings, after you enter the first recipient it will ask, "Anyone else?"
