Help Group not syncing correctly

i tried syncing my contacts from gmail to my android and created some "family" , coworkers,etc groups from there so i could get them on the phone, but now after the sync, the phone created extra groups with the same name but the ones from the phone are empty, has anyone had this problem before? basically they are groups with the same name but not duplicates since they only apply to the ones created in google, not the ones that were already there on the phone

is there any fix to this?

so basically..i cant delete the created groups on my android, and basically have to use them anyhow...because i deleted those on my gmail and they still appear...so i have to regroup them on my android and then sync back.
