I have approx 300 contacts to whom I want to send regular group texts but my galaxy s5 seems to send only 10 at a time

Have you tried any other SMS apps? But it might be a limitation your carrier imposes. Carriers frequently offer "unlimited SMS" as part of their plans, but will usually have a fair usage policy. 300 SMS at a time, that's a lot of messages, you may want to be looking at using a bulk SMS service or bureau.
