I have completely forgotten how to group contacts! HELP! I know that I used to be able to do this simple thing because I have some contacts that are grouped but now I can't figure what to do. Please help!

Hey welcome to android forums Stephanie, I don't remember doing it on my stock app but I know I could with various contacts apps..
I always prefer doing it from gmail though.. Editing contacts - Gmail Help

What type of phone do you have and what version of android? Ice cream sandwich? Gingerbread?
