hi,i am new to this forum and the s3,just got rid my iphone 5,bored off it,question i have is ,i bought my s3 new in a sim free/unlocked store .box was sealed,when i opened and turned on,i check android version and its running 4.1.1 ,i thought s3s didnt ship with 4.1.1 ?i thought they ship with icecream sandwich ?

You can update it yourself using Kies. Being carrier unlocked, I don't think your carrier will push an update to your phone, which you wouldn't want the carrier bloated version anyway. Consider yourself lucky.

They will put the latest os on in the factory, so some ship with ics 4.0.4 and newer ones with 4.1.1. We'll be seeing them ship with 4.1.2 soon. It just takes a while to filter through.

They're not going to continue to build ics handsets if they have jellybean. It just takes a while for the older ics stock to deplete first

thx for quick reply guys,just making sure it was genuine,i thought they still shipped with icecream sandwich,its sim free,how could i update to jelly 4.1.2 ,i tryed updating on fone but said its up to date,i also tryed it through kios and it said it up to date,also im in ireland.
