GS5 Speaker volume

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone can help me.

Since I moved from the stock Samsung ROM to CyanogenMod the external speaker sound has been very quiet, I compared the same YouTube video to a stock GS4 and a Note 2 the other day and its massively quieter.

I remember it being louder before I rooted and installed CyanogenMod. Is it generally considered to be a quiet speaker?

I did take a TWRP of the stock ROM, will there be any issues doing a restore to test?

A bit 'off topic', but I just bought a Garmin 2797 GPS with Bluetooth.

Man, that thing makes a phone call very pleasant in "hands free" mode.
Audio so clear, it sounds like they are in your living room.
the microphone is far better than the one in the S5 phone.
