Root [GSM] evo 3d GSM system upgrade for hboot 1.49.0018

this is my first android ever ,
i got this device from dealextream , they deliver it with out mmc and rooted with
hboot 1.49.0018
my system is on 1.20.401.8 ,as i found there r some updates available i tried to update but i cant found system upgrade option in setting , i even tried in
setting>about phone>software update , but it says no updates available ,
i m almost noob in android, i dont even knew they supplied a rooted device i just found out !
so how can i be able to upgrade to new software version !!
bit help will be very much appreciated !

Who is your carrier? There may be no official updates for the phone you have currently.

But, because you're rooted, you can upgrade by installing custom ROMs. There is a listing here, including ICS ROMs with Sense 4.0:
