GSM Only?

I figured out my problem with Straight Talk and I just need my HTC to stay only on GSM.
I went to debug mode and selected GSM Only, but everytime I go back it has switched to WCDMA preferred and Straight Talk won't run on that.. so any help on what to do?

what kind of phone is it? some of Straight Talk's phones use Sprint or Verizon (CDMA) and others use GSM. does it have a SIM card? if not it's a CDMA phone and cannot utilize GSM. i am guessing you're using either the phone info app or the field test menu?

It's an AT&T HTC Inspire and yes I'm using the phone information menu to switch it. I'm guessing the phone is unlocked because it never rejects my SIM or asks for a SIM unlock code. I've seen other threads where people with straight talk are successfully using HTC Inspires, so the only thing I could think of was the GSM settings.

if you're using an AT&T phone with Straight Talk did you get the BYOP plan? or did you simply swap the SIM from a Straight-Talk phone? last i tried, the SIM swap no longer worked. i found out when i got a nice big 'SIM card Rejected' error when i tried to SIM swap a GoPhone SIM into a AT&T RAZR V3. when i called customer care, they told me that the SIM swaps no longer work as they now tie the SIM with the IMEI of the phone. if you don't get the rejected message things may not work properly, like you can make calls but not use data, or you get no service.

if this phone also is 4G LTE then it may be a CDMA phone with a SIM used for the LTE. but i'm not familiar with 4G devices, sorry.

Maybe it's problem on your debug mode. Cause its change into WCDMA without permission. Try to factory reset on your device. If this a network fault i guess your device still on GSM only mode.

I got it to stay, but it's still saying no service -_-
Yes, it's the BYOP sim card. And like I said, the device will read it but it says no service.
I'm going to try and update the HTC and see if that does anything.

My BlackBerry did the same thing when i reactivated it. Virgin said it was active but BlackBerry said no service and no BIS. NO data and couldn't make calls. Had to call them twice and got it fixed. Have you tried calling Straight Talk?

FYI in the test menu, if you select a non compatible option it will change it back. On my GSM Merit, selecting 'wcdma' would just revert back to GSM AUTO PRL all by itself. That means it was not compatible with the option i selected. You didn't flash some ROM from the CDMA variant of your phone did you?
