Gsm s3

So I went into a store other day and guy said that they are going to re release the s iii as a gsm device. I bought my s3 in April right before the merger and now it seems:o:( I'm going to have to likely pay for gsm soon cause CDMA is phasing out quickly for them. Would it not be smart to offer people who bought s3 say since January a free "upgrade"? Or do I have signals crossed altogether here?

Let me know when you figure out Any Way it makes Any sense for Metro to *give away* $500 phones to Anyone.

M'Kay?

Bruce in Ocala, FL-that would happen on about the 12th of Never

Yeah, I wonder what and when I should do with my only 6 week used Motion that still has the original wrap on the screen...

For once I'm almost (allllmost...) glad I'm Not a current Metro S3 owner trying to figure out when to try and sell theirs.

(For starters I don't think anyone has even heard Metro do VoiP yet. It's sposed to work but Does it?)

You don't really notice VoLTE its just there in the background

Do you guys think I'll get this one if I put in my insurance claim on my lost S3 for the $130 deductible ;)

I DNS but I would assume Assurian (?) would replace your phone with a LIKE one As Long as they were available.

I would think your best chance of getting a GSMer would be once they started cutting the price of the current CDMA S3 or sold out of them.

lol as much as im amused about finding ways to get a free phone rules are rules we are not allowed to discuss such things and yes i know im being a party pooper but think of it as me keeping ya safe from account warnings/ban hammer. trust my journey here in af has been a long one and ive been slapped in the head plenty of times. with that being said gs3 being gsm eh? it wont be a free upgrade nor cheap so to be honest i wont even bother with it till i have money for gs4.

Apparently some misunderstood my entire post above. I was saying that I just bought the S3 CDMA, but now you're telling me I'm going to have to pay likely a hefty fee to get GSM version???? That doesn't seem fair to make people who just bought GS3 in the past few months to have to pay yet again in order for T-Mobile merger to make any difference at all for them.

I'm not talking about just handing out free phones to Tom, Dick, or Harry...and in afterthought I shouldn't of said "free "upgrade"" I should of said what I did above.

But, after contacting Metro they informed me that the towers are going to be upgraded to CDMA/GSM allowing all the CDMA devices connect to the better coverage and 4G which is nice cause parts of Dallas are plain crappy.

You can still enjoy your cdma s3 for a couple of years without issues and maybe as someone else mention that the s3 might get a software update down the line to make it work after cdma towers get shut down also the s3 is volte capable so you have nothing to worry about I bought the s3 knowing metro will dissappear and less then a year later I'm thinking s4 so I look at phones as a lease car use it than a year later grab the latest of course I know I'm loosing money but can't help it its my hobby :D

Ok.

Let's try this another way.

Technology does NOTHING BUT Progress. Yesterday's Flagship device is today's clearance item. Doesn't matter whether it's a DVD player or a phone.

As soon as ALL The Rest of your tech devices become obsolete, do You Then contact the manufacturer and demand they give you the current model in exchange for obsolete model?

Yeah.

I didn't think so.

So why do it with Metro?

Actually I was visiting someone at a hospital with little mpcs reception and Joyn worked great. Far better than talkatone or grooveip. On par with tmobiles voip ap.

Quite glad my s3 supported it and that the building had wifi.

I figured everyone beside me caught my misusage.

I Meant VoLTE though that's not what my fingers said. :p

I Can't Wait to see a GSM Metro S3 side by side with a CDMA Metro S3 for dual Speedtests...

I think I'd drive either the 40 miles to Gainesville or 80 to Holando to see it with my own eyes. (Plus both cities has some decent Q-jurnts that Slocala doesn't. ) <How the hell do you have a pure redneck horse town with no damn edible Q available??>

A friend of mine has an HTC 8x and he HATES windows phone now. He has a chance to trade it for an ATT GS3. My market has been refarmed for 1900 so he can get HSPA but my question for the experts is will this phone be able to get TMobile LTE? We're supposed to get it soon. Either way I'm sure he's going to make the trade but I'm curious.

Yes, the ATT lte phones while not having HSPA+ on AWS they do have LTE on AWS.
The reason they do is because in a few, very very few, markets they have to run LTE on AWS so it would not do for them for those people to not be able to buy any lte att phone and not get lte.

So I get paid at the end of the month. With that money I was planning on buying a S3. The CDMA S3 will have access to HSPA+ which is still great speeds. So I shouldn't really wait for the GSM S3 right - because sure enough before 2015 I will get a new phone.
