Again, another non-Android app question. Has anyone tried gSyncit. It apparently syncs Outlook contacts, calendar and notes with gmail and google docs. The trial is limited to 20 syncs so it's hard to see how well it works. For those that use it, do you sill use Google Calendar or the gSyncit calendar sync function. If the program works well it's worth the $15.

BTW- I've seen other posts about gsyncit. People have complained that it misses contacts and other items during the sync. Has the program been updated to correct that?

I purchased gSyncIt, and as time wore on, regretted it. Usually didn't realize an "oops" had occurred until I was out and about, trying to find a contact number. (Read: substitute another 4 letter word in place of "sync".) Back to the drawing board. Found OggSync(.com). No problems, and I've been using it daily for a good 3-4 months now. I especially love the way you can right-click in the systray on its icon, to quickly change sync directions and a few other aspects.

What I do NOT like is the annual $30 fee. I sprung for it, figuring that given a bit of time, a worthy competitor would eventually step up to the plate. So, it's fine for now, but I'm allergic to repeatedly paying for the same e-thing. It would have to knock my socks off, and while the app is good, my shoelaces remain tied.
 
google calendar sync obviously only syncs the calendar. the other apps also sync contacts and notes.
I've yet to find a good solution (meaning freeware / not too expensive, maybe even by google themselves) that works the way it's supposed to.
 
I use gsyncit and have for about 6 weeks now. Seems to work fine, but all I sync are calendar and contacts, not tasks and notes.

The developer is very quick to reply to emails and has frequent updates. If you are having a problem with the software, just email them to get it fixed :)
 
I think google calendar only syncs to one main calendar, and does not support calendar events that have been assigned to different categories. It would be great different categories in outlook could map to different calendars in google!
 
After 3 days of trying, I finally figured out how to download, install and sync with gsyncit. Seems to have worked OK, BUT, now I can only VIEW my memos in Google Docs, rather than edit them. Little help for a newbie? Thanks!
 
I use it and have been very pleased with it. I've used it for several months and not had any dropped contacts or calendar items - I took a good bit of time configuring it when I set it up though so that might've helped. I do not use tasks or notes, only contacts and calendar. I used to use google calendar sync (which didn't help me with contacts obviously) but had to seek another solution when I went to Outlook 2010.
 
I started using Gsyncit a couple of weeks ago and so far, so good! I haven't noticed any lost contacts, but I backed everything up first before I used it in case something did go missing, which is only sensible if you're using any syncing software. I'm using it with both Outlook 2010 and on another computer Outlook 2007, and it works a treat on both syncing contacts, calendars, notes and tasks - finally!!

Admittedly, it's a little complex to set up the way you want it, but after six months of frustration trying to use the frankly useless HTC Sync with my HTC Desire HD, I'd rather have more options than fewer. I tried VCOrganizer before and had more stuff go missing with that, and it also took way longer to sync than gsyncit. True, you do have to sync up your notes via a third-party app, but I installed GDocs Notes and now everything is going swimmingly.

Also, Gsyncit supports multiple calendars, which means I can sync up my husband's calendar to see what he's doing (with his permission of course!) without requiring him to invite me to every appointment via Google Calendar which is what we were doing before. It's also much, much better than Plaxo which was a pain in the neck. My big headache has been duplicate contacts, but Google Contacts finds and merges them beautifully as long as you sift through your data first to get anything stray. That sifting took forever for me (I had 2500 contacts, but pruned out all the people who were dead or I didn't really know) but it was well worth it in the end.

I think this is a totally awesome app, and well worth the $19 to install it. I plan to put it on all three of my computers.

Backups are sensible even if you're not using sync software. If it's important, back it up.

So first Google has all your contacts and now Microsoft (hotmail), has them as well. Doesn't sound so great to me. I think it's time for the Android OS to recognize what other OSs and programs, are needed by their users.
If they don't, they will continue to present a chaotic system that scares a lot of people away and frustrates those that stay.
For example, I'm sick and tired of going to a Verizon store for tech support on my Droid Charge and have them tell me they don't support any 3rd party apps and don't know anything about them. Why in the world would you have an Android if you didn't want to make use of creativity and individual preference?
Anyway, sorry for the rant but I wonder about Android's life if these things continue.
 
I use gSyncit and like it a lot. It synchs my Outlook calendar, contacts and tasks between 3 different pc's and my Droid3. Never had a problem.
 
If you are bothered about having your contacts in the cloud then take a look at MyPhoneExplorer, a free app that syncs your contacts and a whole lot more.
 
I've used gSyncit since it came out, and since bought 2 other licences.
Wouldn't be without it - it's the first thing I install on a new machine.
 
Good to read that Gsyncit is working fine. What I am trying to find out is if Gsyncit also can sync calendars of two different outlook accounts? That would be great, 'cause there is no app able to do this. Or is there?

You could use it to sync from Outlook on PC 1 to Outlook on PC 2 via Google Calendar - this would require 2 licences.
Is that what you mean ?
 
Anyone use GSyncit with BCM? I've used it with outlook for over a year now, but need to sync my BCM contacts too.

I map my contacts to Googles [All Contacts], not the ridiculous My Contacts tag. I don't want to sync BCM and the both BCM and Outlook contacts in both data stores. Do I need to make up a new tag on GMail for BCM to sync to?

Any other thoughts are appreciated too.
 
I have been attempting to use gsyncit with Outlook calendar, tasks and contacts for years. I have 1400 contacts, my work and personal calendars, and several hundred tasks between my home list, work list, and rental properties at any given time. I attempt to use about 25 categories to keep things straight and believe this is the cause of the duplication issues I have been fighting for years. (I used to do notes in outlook as well but have switched to Evernote for these which works pretty good.) I am trying to keep in sync between my home desktop running outlook 2007 and my work machine on outlook 2010 and my Android phone.

I have wasted countless hours trying to find the right combination of settings that will give error free results. Then there's all the time eliminating duplicates, re-entering in - correctly deleted items, etc.

Has anyone found something that really works when entries are categorized as described above?
