Help Gt540 wants to "Force Close" with phone, SMS, Browser and settings

Hi, my son has come home saying that his phone isn't working. It is an Lg GT540 whcih has worked perfectly for 12 months until this morning when he took the battery out, and the SD card out, breaking the clip that holds the SD card in place at the same time. He says since then the phone keeps coming up with the following messages:

When trying to use the phone:
'The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Then below is the button Force Close'

When trying to use SMS:
'The process com.android.mms has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Then below is the button Force Close'

When trying to access settings:
'The process com.android.settings has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Then below is the button Force Close'

When trying to access the browser:
'The process com.android.browser has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Then below is the button Force Close'

The only app that seems to work is the "market"

My son is devastated as he has to go back and use an only sony K510 as I'm not made of money and can;t afford to buy him a new phone at the drop of a hat.
If anyone could help i know that I would be very grateful and my son would be over the moon with joy

hey feels good to have someone with the same problem i tried factory reseting 3 times still not working. i uninstalled and cleared the cache of all my apps still not working. count urself lucky that markets working, for me everything is not working. i had to create a shortcut for manage applications to clear the cache. now the force close message for android phone comes up every 3 seconds.

I solved mine by uninstalling a few apps i think the phone needs a bit of breathing space and if its full it tends to crash.

hi there, your son's phone need to be reprogram so he can use it again..
garysri is right, the phone needs a bit of breathing space..
