Gtalk / IM not working on the G1

anyone else having this problem???

it seems to have completely stopped working

when i go into IM all my contact are greyed out like they are not online.... it been like this for days which is very unusual

my username have vanished as well, when i try to add it back it it never saves

i dont think its logging me in for some reason

any suggestions

Is you user-name the same as your gmail account that you used to register your phone ? If not that might be fixed if you use the same user name as your registration gmail account ... I dont use gTalk ... so not absolutely sure if it makes a difference ...

I use the same username I use for all the other G1 Google apps and I see my contacts online...so no issue.

Off topic - if you long press on a friend there is an option to "pin friend" what does that mean?

Did you ever "pin" a girl in HS or College?

nope, no problems. MY guess is that Pin keeps them near the top of the list.

Poor grammar choice. How about something a bit more conventional? (I know you guys didn't name it.)

I tried "Pin Friend" and then "Unpin Friend" and didn't see any noticeable changes.

From a very reliable source -

That makes your name always appear in the list, even if you're offline.
Otherwise names are sorted by frequency of use + online availability.

Ah, then it does make sense as a choice. They are "pinned" to the top of the list, regardless of whether they are signed in or not, while everyone else's spot is determined by algorithms.
