Been sick of seeing imprecise instruction on how to get into recovery (stock or twrp) with the phone off. So here it is, for us noobs who spent 3 days tearing our hair out!
1: Power off the device (duh)
2: Press and hold Volume Down and Power together
3: When the LG logo appears release the POWER BUTTON for a split second (KEEP HOLDING VOL-)
4: PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON AGAIN (where ive been ripping chunks out of my skull!)
5: If you have TWRP recovery installed, use Vol- to highlight "Yes" and press Power to select it. Do this twice and TWRP will boot
