This is how to get the menu/settings button back on your HTC one V, Ok open a root explorer app (Rom toolbox is free) & navigate to system/usr/keylayout & open synaptics-touchscreen.kl with the text editor & change the values to this,

Key 102 HOME
Key 139 MENU
Key 158 BACK
Key 217 SEARCH
Key 249 MENU

Then save it & download this file (amtel-touchscreen.kl), then copy & paste the amtel file into system/usr/keylayout, then change permission's on both the files, give them both full permission's. Then reboot.

Assuming your on the PrimoC there's one thing wrong with this post

the primoc DOES NOT have ATMEL (thats how you spell it) it uses something different

Yes CDMA I extracted the ATMEL file from another Rom & did some investigating around inside the keylayout files & the qwerty file I believe it's called this file is a spitting image of the ATMEL file same size too. I tried it with only modifying the qwerty file & no go, so I added the ATMEL file did a reboot & presto I've got a menu/system button. I need that button can't open the WiFi tether without it so there's no way to configure it. All I know is it works, so I'm passing on this little trick i've learned.:D
