.

I take no credit or responsibility for files, work or if you brick you phone.

All i did was use my google-fu To find all the information and write it down to one location (here).

If i get a chance and a decent camera i will make a video from start to finish... But for now i tried to be as detailed as possible (Sorry for so many steps)

To make sure of no bricking, I did this process 3 times. Each time using my original Nandroid back up to go back to ICS.

Make Nandroid Backups!
Make sure you have a full charge on your battery.

This guide should work for AoSP as well. But i have not personally tried this rom and cannot confirm.

Well done :) And just a pointer to anyone out there using CMW, after I used it on my Evo and had a few soft brick scares, I got in to the habit of wiping everything three times. Does it help? Haven't bricked a phone yet lol :)

VERY nice KidGixxer, very well laid out and simplistic w/links and everything. Well done!

I'm actually d/l the rom as I type this LOL, good thing you posted this layout, perhaps maybe make this a sticky? Mods??

Nice write up. I've been running for about a week and I love it.

Just a couple of issues I came across, which I posted fixes in another thread. Just though I put them here since it seems relevant.

No GPS Lock
Cause: Internal GPS disabeled by default.
Fix: Go to System settings > Location access. In there select GPS source and make sure Use internal GPS is checked. Then turn off Access to my location and turn it back on. It might take a few moments got get a lock or maybe even to turn it off/on once or twice more.

Governor and I/O scheduler reset on reboot
Fix: Use app like SET CPU or RomTollBox to set custom settings.

I flashed both ok, rebooted and got into the phone.
GPS still doesn't lock to well, so it's a flop for me. It's not finding anything and sits and blinks for at least 5 mins and still no gps. Even the ticking the location stuff in settings off and back on a few times didn't help at all.
I have really bad 3g like 2 bars max, that's because of were I live though and I'm also inside, so that may be the issue, but stock doesn't take that long.
This is not a good things for me, as I use gps in my business, so I may be going back to stock sadly :(. I really do like the roms but if gps is not functioning correctly I have no choice.

I am using AOSP build 6 rom.

Really digging the CM 10. Getting pretty awesome battery life to boot.

The signal isn't an issues. CM has always shown what they call true signal. Most stock ROMs tend to show better connections then what you really have. And for your GPS issues. Go to the link below and flash the fix. There is also one for better battery life.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33733980

I tried that with no luck.

I did however find out thru all this that the roms have issues with gps locking on, so it's not gapps or anything else it's the rom.

I have also tried numerous fixes for gps except for one, with no resolve, gps is still messed up in one way or another.

Multiple things I've seen and experienced:
1: Gps locks on, says you are locked (not blinking) and you are like 10-20 miles or more from where it says you are
2: when it DOES happen to lock on correctly, while it shows you in the right area, it still is a bit off, and I watched it in google maps and it bounces around alot at times, so you could be 8ft from you, but then it'll bounce over a block and say your at that spot, then bounce about 50ft or so from you, and maybe go back to 8ft away, etc....it's just inconsistant.
3: Gps does not lock at all, even after 1/2 hr of just sitting there, still no lock.

I use google maps and GPS Statistics, also known as GPS Lock and fix or something in the market.

This is the most common one most everyone uses:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5lY2xpcHNpbS5ncHNzdGF0dXMyIl0.

I found this on xda forums, but for the life of me I can't figure out what file to use. It's called AGPS Patch and is suppose to help alot of the gps issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880411

Being the simpleton I am, people that write these things assume you know everything THEY know, and therfor it results in just mass confusion for some people such as myself. I am a simpletonm thru and thru, so if it is strutured in a "see spot run" or a stick figure sorta way, maybe even draw a picture, THEN I can understand it.
/rant on, I'm in NO way stupid, but I just tend to see things more simplistic than a lot of others do I guess, so that's a big let down for me when I see layouts such as that, not knowing the lingo or the info I need to know, and it gets frustrating :(. Sorry, /rant off heh

Since I found it was a rom issue I have tried 3 different roms with the same exact result:

Codename-Android Jelly JoyRide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900357

AOKP d710 JB Milestone 1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881046

and

CM10 UNOFFICIAL D710 nightly build:
PhantomPhreak53 File Server

I've tried all these with the 2 zip file fixes but no luck either.
All 3 roms have the exact same result and I haven't found a fix that actually works yet, aside from the AGPS Patch fix.

I am now currently on agats kernel and rooted, and GPS works like a dream, so for now I've exhausted my search efforts and until I can find a fix I am stuck with where I am at at the moment.

There are many great ICS roms some with google now some with Jelly Bean tweak. Most of the good ICS roms are bug free, GPS 4G work. the BLU KUBAN is completely bug free. MIJJZ Goodness, RE Calked, the new Clean Blue is nice the Black rom, Venums ICE, Wicked Sensation. Not all of thise but some have different themes. Thats just a few of the ones that can be daily drivers. Theres Touched by SGS3 which gives you a Galaxy S3 experience. I need GPS so JB isnt an option right now, but I am thoroughly enjoying being rooted, flashin roms and this awesome phone of ours

So say aokp ics your saying GPS should work correctly?

I want to give aokp ics a shot, but only if gps works.

I'll wait for a post before I take the plunge again. The whole jb experience I just went through was exhausting. Don't really feel like a repeat.
Btw again, thanks to everyone in the phandroid community for your patience and help. You've been a Godsend for my learning expwrience through all this.

I haven't had any issues except for the camera storage setting. As of now it only stores on internal sd, i prefer it on external.

I haven't had any gps issues ics or any of the jb roms i have used.

Here is a trick i heard, i wouldn't put to much stock in it.
But here it is anyway.
Before flashing to jb, while on ics turn on your gps and make sure you get a lock. While locked turn the phone off and go about your regular routine for flashing the rom.

Havent tried AOKP ICS, Check out QBKING77 EPIC 4G TOUCH on youtube, he reviews roms, and does video installations of the roms he reviews. He usually says if there is a bug. Most of the popular ICS roms are bug free. Never GO from an ICS rom to an ICS rom. Always use EL26 are EL29 to get from ICS TO an ICS. Just try a few, thats the fun of being rooted n flashing, your not restricted to one rom. I flashed 5 in one day, mostly JB thats what led me to ICS. If you just want to enjoy your phone with no Bugs, for now just try a good ICS. When they fix the JB rom you want, go back. Good luck

My guess is the ICS roms all work and have working gps because ICS for this phone is now on this phone as stock, so they have something to work from, where as JB is NOT on this phone as of yet stock, so they basically have to take other phones that have JB and work from that, so they run into issues. I figure once JB comes to this phone, they will then be able to better port a working rom, as they will have a standard to go from.

Overall the JB rom is nice, and bug free, but, the gps lock issue is a no go for me. I transport cars from auction to dealer and back, and sometimes we go to houses to pick the cars up so I need gps, it's a must in my line of business.

If all else fails I can just go stock with root access, because I know for a fact that works.
