In June (yeah, I'm pre-planning) I will have one of my family plan lines 'open' with no user and a year left on contract. I know someone who has a pay-as-you-go phone (basic flip phone, not feature/smart) and I would like to allow them to use my family plan.
I could port his number to Google Voice and set up the family line to forward calls to that number. The question here is does anyone know if pay-as-you go numbers can be ported?
That would solve him not needing a new number BUT...how would I set that phone up to use GV for out-bound calls? I'm not looking to use any GV features on this line, I just want to port the number and have it be like a 'regular' line. I have no idea if/how his outgoing calls would display his GV number since it's a basic phone? Can that be set up?
I use GV and am familiar with the online settings and the settings through the GV app...it's the lack of settings on a non-smartphone that have me pondering whether I can do this or not...?
