Ha ha! I'm famous again...there's no such thing as bad publicity, right?

Compassion is cool!
I was pretty pumped up when one of my products was featured in a technology textbook. Of course, I knew for months beforehand that it would be, since the authors paid me for permission to use it. But yesterday I unexpectedly found yet more fame! But...it's not in a particularly good light. However, I believe there's a saying that there's "no such thing as bad publicity," right? :D

From my site logs, I backtracked from incoming links to see what was up; the incoming links had PsychologyToday.com in them. The design they led to is a pro-breastfeeding design: "Breast milk. It's what's for dinner." So here's the pertinent part of the article:

psychologytoday.com/blog/dry-land-fish/201304/my-breasts-are-me-not-just-feeding-babies

Additional pressure to see breasts as only functional surely also comes from so many organizations now pushing for women to breastfeed. In fact, I recently discovered that I can even buy myself a t-shirt to announce to the world

Umm, that author needs to relax. Somebody should clue her in that breasts and a sense of humor are not mutually exclusive.

Exactly! Feel free to go over there and post a comment. Like I said, I probably won't. I just have a feeling that if I post non-anonymously, in other words saying I'm the person whose design she's bashing, I'd be in for a fight. Now, it's not that I'm not up to a good...er, discussion...but I just don't know that I want to waste my energy on that right now.

Ha. I'd post reminding them that your portion of the site is called Smart Ass Products, and remind this author that the product is tongue in cheek. But some people can't take a joke, so it might not be worth it.

Also tell them you appreciate the shout out and look to working with them for future cross site product placement. ;)

But you are right, hits coming to the site are always good. :)

EDIT: I just looked more at your site there, and realized you have like, 500 items with that slogan/image on it. You could post a link to each one telling them you can not only get a tee-shirt, but also a .... exhaustive list here...

Tons of links to your site

Something tells me the author has little to no sense of humor. I could be wrong, though.

Right! I've always heard that even bad publicity is good, so I guess we'll see. :D

Great idea.

I added the design to a lot of products it wasn't on before, and I have the author of that article to thank for that. :) It's what finally motivated me to do SOMETHING productive. It's been so long since I'd worked on any of my CafePress shops, they'd added a ton of new products I wasn't even aware of. So I plunged in, made new images [to fit the new products], and added a bunch of them. Had it not been for the author of that article, I'd still be missing about...a zillion products for that particular design. Thanks, author! :congrats: Now if she would just mention some of my other designs, I might get off my lazy butt and update their selection, too. :D
