Root [HACK/MOD] Play 2D Videos in 3D / make whole phone 3D - Now with 2 Methods to active 3D - UNSTABLE

Really Cool 3D Hack
​

This is a Super Cool New Hack that will allow you to play any 2D video in 3D this also at the same time makes the whole phone 3D

So here it is to activate this hack you must

1. Install Mac Kernel 0.9.6

2. Play any 2D video from your SD Card

3. Press More and play in 3D

4. Your 2D video will now be in 3D!!!!!!

5. After enabling this Hack your whole Phone will be stuck in 3D but a reboot will fix this

Tips:

- Every video after the First will start in 2D so you will have to repeat Step 3

- Its really cool to play your apps / games in 3D :D

Warning: The only bad part / bug is that real 3D videos/camera are broken but this can all be undone by wiping caches and Re-Flashing the Rom This may also cause undesired effects
 
Alternative Method
​

This is an alternative Method to activating 3D at will

1. Open "init.qcom.post_boot.sh" located in "system/ect" with any Root Explorer

2. Add one of the following lines to the bottom with a text editor

Code: 
- echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/panel_3d/3D_mode (LANDSCAPE_3D)
- echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/panel_3d/3D_mode (PORTRAIT_3D)
- echo 2 > /sys/devices/platform/panel_3d/3D_mode (OFF_3D)

example:

Code: 
#Make Phone 3D all the time
	echo 2 > /sys/devices/platform/panel_3d/3D_mode

3. Reboot now your phones should be in a 3D like state

4. To disable the Mod Simply remove the Line you added to the "init.qcom.post_boot.sh"

5. Alternatively you can do this with any init.d script just make sure you fix permissions afterwards

Tips:

- Use this method if you don't want to break 3D Camera

- Use the first method for better 3D effect this Alternative is slightly weaker

Warning: The only bad part is that sometimes the 3D will turn off requiring a reboot to turn it back on..... This may also cause undesired effects

Well the Entire phone but you won't get that weird Screen Stretch that Stereoscopic mode usually gives 2D and IMO Videos look improved visually much better color and quality while giving a 3D effect

I was playing Asphalt 7 earlier and it looked pretty dam cool :)

My bad i should had said im on cm9 right now, and i don't get that option on the player, maybe that's why?
 
Won't work on CM9, it freezes when it tries to play a 3D video, had to pull battery out.

Maybe I'm missing something here... How can a 2D source be made 3D on the fly? Movies that are filmed in 3D have two lenses with a separation between them (as does this phone) to replicate depth. How is depth added to a two dimensional image? How do you know the right amount of depth is being added to the right parts of the image?

- This Hack isn't perfect but hell it works and its pretty cool (just something to play with)

I'd say no...... This is a hack that forces the Entire phone in Stereoscopic Mode so far its only been proven to work on Mobster Rom V since no one else has tested it on other Sense 3.6 Roms
 
In jmz's CM9, 3d videos play in a glitchy sort of way that makes the phone crash. But just the fact that they play at all leads me to believe that there's progress being made.

I love CM9 so much. If we're able to get 3d working properly on it, it'll be even better.

I tried to stay on CM9 but couldn't stand the Touchscreen / Multitouch issues it was a worse experience then the Triumph it made Touchscreen games unplayable (at least that was my experience)

Multitouch works fine for me, but then again I haven't tried any games. I think it's all fixed now though. I remember reading something about it in the CM9 thread

Either way im lovin' Mobster Rom V 2.05 way too much :o its the Best Rom i've made to date
 
Tried this but when 3d stuck the images were misaligned

edit: just noticed the pictures posted fin on my comp, but on my phones screen all letters and numbers were blurry and hard to read, iw ouldnt call it successfull for me

2nd edit: running mobz v 2.5
 
It's pretty cool. nothing to fancy, wish you could change the depth of the 3d. but its a neat trick non the less. nice find. now hack it more lol.

edit: if you power off the device without rebooting you'll boot right into 3d mode. just a heads up. :)
 
I've added a Second method to accomplish a similar end-result its in the 2nd post

- Good thing is this one doesn't break anything or require you to flash anything!!!
