Help Hairline Crack on nexus 4 back

Lurker
Apologies in advance as this has probably been said before ;

I discovered a crack on the back if my nexus 4 and wondered what rights I have under the sales of good act? I was under the impression an item has to be of reasonable durability?

The crack occurred in the space of about 5 hours, without being dropped and whilst in a case. It was clearly not a drop as it was the one hairline fracture, not a complete smash yet my mobile company insist that i have to pay for the repair.
I was interested to know if this was the case as in reality a phone should not jut break in my pocket!

I was wondering if anyone knew my rights as I have a rough idea quality/durability but don't have the time to go through the entire sale of goods acts etc.

Has anyone else had this issue and what was the outcome?

Thanks in advance

Good luck, I had the same and none of my arguments/pleas were listened to. At least it's not a very expensive break -

It's difficult, unfortunately. :( How old is the phone?

Technically, if your phone is damaged physically, you're going to have a hard time proving that you didn't damage it yourself and it all depends on who you talk with from customer services. If you're persistent and you can prove there are other documented instances of it occurring (look around on the net), they might cave.

One of my fellow mods managed it with his Nexus 7: http://androidforums.com/nexus-7/605927-google-nexus-7-replacement-screen.html#post5117347

Legally, I'm not sure what your rights are, you might want to google Martin Lewis and check his site out (it's a huge consumer rights site), they could have more info on where you stand legally.

Got the phone around the end of December if I remember correctly. The women I spoke to just kept repeating 'its physical damage its your fault'. I remembered reading someones thread online that there is a passage regarding durability of a product, but I couldn't find the passage to quote at the time.

One of the things i loved about my old htc was it ruggedness over the iphones, it seems I no longer have a leg to stand on when mocking my apple infatuated friends

Thanks for the help guys
