Half my contacts missing...

Went on a trip to a remote lake... my phone obviously had no service... although I had acces to wifi which I checked my emails daily.

I Noticed that over half of my phone contacts were gone.... and several often used contacts, the names had been erased and all that was seen was their phone numbers. All my text contact names that had been used many times were gone, replaced by their phone numbers.

Got home and looked at my backup assistant and all of my contacts were still there, but 160 of them had been thrown in the trash. How in the world can this happen? I sure hope it doesn't happen again.

Any reasons or ideas?

Hmmm - II wonder if the backup assistant was trying to verify the contacts and since you had no service, it decided to chuck em in file 13?

Were any of them from other services, such as FB, Twitter, etc?

No, don't have facebook or anything. Some of these contacts that were thrown into the delete bin were contacts I've had for 7-8 years.
