we get this question everyday. the problem is that there are millions of apps that uses notification icons.....so....unless if it is something like facbeook or youtube most of these questions go unanswered.
the easiest way is to look in the phone's notification icon. but in most cases here, the phone is not available because it belongs to someone else.

As stated above, notification icon questions are a daily occurrence, and often the best solution is the one suggested. Carry on and good luck. It is a fairly distinctive icon, so hopefully someone can positively identify it.
