Halloween 25

It was always my favorite event as a child and I tried my best to make it special for my children. I was never a big candy eater but the fun of perusing the neighborhood in a costume was right up my alley. It was exciting and even a bit scary when I was little and I tried to make it scary for the tricksters when I was older. I have continued that tradition my entire adult life. I dress up and I have my home heavily decorated. If any kids happen to come down my dark street, they are bound to stop at my house with my display and lighting. I give out factory wrapped candies nowadays but back in the day it was popcorn balls or candied apples. That's the houses I loved as a kid so I tried to do my share of paying it forward. It's a shame that the screwballs of this world have ruined it for the kids. And it was hell to pay for the people that turned out their lights and gave out nothing when I was a kid. TP and soap were more than a subtle reminder that their lack of participation was unacceptable.
Any Halloween plans??

I went trick or treating with my children when they were little. I dressed up and we all had a great time until they outgrew dear ol dad. There was a house just a couple of blocks away that was a favorite for young and old alike. The people had their yard lit up and had music of the day loudly playing. The kids got into the groove of the place and some even danced in the yard. The people handed out warm spiced apple cider. They had regular and adult cider. They were a fun couple without any children and were active Halloween players for years. I take this opportunity to thank them for making the holiday special for all that passed their home.

Thirteen tricksters so far. It's getting late and it's cold. I don't expect additional traffic. It's sad to see it so out of fashion to hand out candy to the kids. There are only two houses on my block that have their porch lights on. That is reason enough to go elsewhere for the goodies. I hope the areas that have a higher percentage of younger families are far more active. Two additional tricksters were by while I was typing.

Had our entire bowl of candy - bowl included - stolen, by apparently an adult, early as we were eating dinner prior to taking our daughters trick or treating.

Our camera caught it, but they were wearing a skimask.

My wife and I had half a pumpkin for supper. The idea of carving jack-o-lanterns was totally alien to her, she thought it was a waste of food.

No trick or treaters to be seen in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia.
