Halloween 26

Halloween is this Saturday. I never was a big candy eater but it was my favorite holiday of the year. The excitement of wearing ragged clothes with cork soot and tromping through the surrounding blocks after dark appealed to me. It was an exciting adventure. I've watched the holiday evolve through the years. To protect the children from the crazies in out midst, many churches and organizations provide safe candy and experience for the kids. Sad... but it is what it is. I miss the line of kids, in a constant flow, on my porch with open sacks.
I still decorate the house. It has become popular to set up blow up figures for the yard. That's not my thing but whatever. It does add to the intrigue of holiday. I hope the decorated houses are also handing out candy for the tricksters.
Do you have anything planned for the holiday? Any special Halloween memories to share?

I liked my old hobo costumes as well, OB.
When the girls were young, the Boss Lady always handmade all of their costumes.
I think my favorite was a spider that she made for our oldest. 3 fake legs on each side, attached with yarn to an arm. Raise the arms and 6 legs raised as well.6

I didn't tell her that it looked like she had 10 legs though. I guess that the spider costume wasn't supposed to include her actual legs

Welp depending on how my sister feels, she is going to doll up as:

And I am probably going to find a yellow shirt for this charaters brother.

Her name is Louise Beltcher everyone who is not aware of Bob's Burgers.

It's nowhere as big in Britain as in the US, though it's grown a lot since I was young (when apart from TV showing scary movies it was barely noticeable). But I won't be doing anything myself. There's a sort of code here where people who are happy to be visited by kids leave pumpkins by their doors or similar signs (most young kids are accompanied).

A few years back I was in NY for some meetings and had a very amusing subway ride from JFK to my hotel: it was the Saturday before Halloween and I'd arrived in the evening, so of course the trains were packed with costumed party-goers. ;) A few days later I spotted a lot of kids heading to school in costume in the morning, which seemed quite sweet.
