I am Sachin from India. Just purchased Motorola Charm 2.1 in India. I am very much new in this Android world, basically shiefted myself from Symbian to Android...I have some basic questions are...

1) What is rooting of the handset?

2) Is hacking possible?

3) Are there any good softwares for motorola charm?

4) wallpapers?

Rooting is basically jailbreaking or hacking, so yes hacking is possible. Be sure and check the sub-forum for the Charm and other similar phones and I'm sure you'll find some great software and wallpaper. Welcome to the forums!

To clarify somewhat, rooting an Android phone is more like attaining "SuperUser" access in Linux/Unix. It merely provides you administrator level privilege on the phone and isn't really hacking. It does, however, lend itself to providing you access to modify the phone in a much more substantial way.

Look in the Market for an app called APP 2 SD. Keep in mind, however, that only apps that are capable of being run from the SD card can be moved using this app.
