Hand-Held Android

For along time I have been wondering if Android will ever make a kind of Hand-Held device that IS NOT a phone... similar to the Ipod but not locked down to one type of appstore, i think this could make millions of people happy and make Android much more money. I was sad to see that Android hadn't made one of these in the past and i will jump on the opportunity to buy one if this ever is made and i have been wondering if anyone else thinks the same.

Already exists but did not get much traction. Galaxy Player, Sony Walkman Z and the 7inch Galaxy Tabs come to mind.
