Hi all. I'm having trouble sending out a group message. I have the GS4 on VZW. I've read that the stock messaging app will only let you group text 10 people at a time, and that the work around for that was to use a 3rd party app like Handcent. However, when trying to send a group text to around 25 people, the circle that shows that the text is pending just sits there forever but never actually sends the text. For example, yesterday I tried to send the text at 1 PM, and when I asked my friends about it at 4 PM, none of them had got it.
I've read something about creating a group of the contacts beforehand, and then just selecting that group when making the group text message rather than selecting each recipient individually. That seems bothersome and unnecessary just to send a group message.
Any ideas?
Update 1: I tested the group messaging feature by sending a message to two of my friends, one with an iphone and the other with an android device. The one with the android replied, and I'm still not sure if the other received it, but the one who replied came back as its own thread, rather than in the group message thread. How do I fix this?
Update 2: I tried another group message, but this time between my girlfriend, who also has a GS4, and her mom, who has an iphone 4. My girlfriend replied but her mom hasn't, and the reply came within the original group thread. What's going on? This is so frustrating.
Update 3: Friend with iphone from update 1 has replied within the original group message thread that I sent out. I'm going to assume the reason my friend in update 1 with the android phone replied outside of the group thread is because his group messaging is disabled (he has a gs2 and uses the stock messaging app, which I believe doesn't support group messaging since it's running 2.3? I think). So, now that I know that group messaging works, how do I get it to work with more people? Specifically, about 25 people? Furthermore, when the iphone friends reply came in, I had to click download in a separate thread between me and him before it showed in the group thread. Is there a way for his reply to come in the group thread without me having to click download?
Sorry for all the questions, and I really appreciate any help.
