Handcent notifications keep popping up

I love the features of Handcent but there is one thing that keeps annoying me. SMSs pop up repeatedly sometimes even if I have viewed and closed them. Some seem to pop up several times over a day. Sometimes I get a second SMS (from the same person or somebody else) and the old one still shows up first.
Any ideas on how to stop this or is it a bug I should report?

When I first used Handcent I used to get double notifications because I hadn't turned off the notifications from the stock sms app. If you haven't done that you can do it in the application manager.

Thanks. Same too here but I turned off the stock sms notifications. This is a handcent issue - it's been doing it for a while. It is not double notifications, just that the notifications aren't turning off, even though I have read them and closed the pop-up window.

Have you checked the settings that closing the popup window marks the message as read? If you didn't and you have message reminders set, this would probably happen.

Yes, I did check that option.
