Handcent SMS, chomp SMS, etc ...

I remember reading a lot about how people had issues with their Hero, and there were always replies saying it could be from Handcent or other text apps. Is it true? Will they cause if any issues?

Some people have problems, some don't. Try it and see what happens. If it causes problems then remove it.

One day many many many months ago my phone stopped receiving texts, removing Handcent fixed the problem. I have not nor will I ever go back, the stock app may not have as many bells and whistles but it works fine.

same with mine, about a month or so ago, i had to restart my phone every so often because i wouldnt be receiving any of my friends' messages....but eventually it just kinda worked itself out. who knows...

I have used both and it seems like handcent is a little more buggy. It tends to not send and receive messages sometimes. I am sticking to the stock messaging app for now. I tested chomp for a short period and it seemed to work pretty good. I didt use it long enough to critique it.

I've used Handcent since day 1 and the only problem I ever had was MMS not downloading which people have gotten regardless of what text app they use. I love the customizations of Handcent, one of my favorite apps!
