handcent sms & messages question

im using the handcent sms app and its alotttt better....but is there a way to stop getting all my txt to both handcent and my messages ??
i read and respond in handcent but they still show in messages as unread..
so everytime i light up my screen to check time or missed calls or txts or whatever its still showing a txt i read a hr before ?

I think you need to turn off the notifications for the stock message app. I think i'm right in saying that you only have 1 message come in just two programs reading the same message.
