Help Handcent volume, all or nothing?

I had this issue on my eris, and its the same on the incredible. How do you set the volume on handcent? If It's on vibrate, it just vibrates, on silent,it's silent. But there's no gradient volume for the sounds. If it's turned all the way to the lowest setting before silent, it's just as loud as if it was turned all the way up. Is there a workaround for this, or do I need to find a different app?

Ok, I un-installed handcent, and tried my oem app. It's doing the same thing. NO adjustment on the notification sounds.
