Hands free calling not working

rguedel1

Lurker
I have a Note 9 and recently the hands free calling has stopped working. When making a call the message 'dialing failed' comes up on the car's screen. Bluetooth works fine for apps, streaming music. I have turned the Bluetooth on and off and tried re-pairing the phone. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!

Welcome to Android Forums rguedel1. I'm on uneven ground trying to assist you for I've never owned a vehicle that had the ability to pair with my phone. Are you using an app on your phone to initiate the calls? If so, will the app work without being paired to your auto? Did you install something on your phone in the same time frame of the hands free problems? I'm asking the questions that someone better suited to assist will likely ask. I hope we can get you fixed up and thanks for coming to Android f\Forums for assistance.

The first thing to try is to forget the connection on the phone AND the car (you didn't mention the make of the car or the head unit). Reboot the phone, shut off the car and restart it and then re-pair the phone to the car. Many times these Bluetooth issues are more magic than technical. If that doesn't work, get back to us and let us know which car you are pairing with.

It's a 2015 Hyundai Elantra. I will try your suggestions. Thank you!
