I have a feeling that performance of the 64 bit version needs a bit of testing as my 64 bit processing laptop hanged up on Android Studio. Maybe it is Windows 8 I don't really know at this stage.
Try duel boot with Linux mint and windoze 8. Linux mint can install Android studio and all dependencies with one simple command (apt-get). Best of both worlds.
