Hangouts MMS (group text) sending slow

As the name implies, I'm using Hangouts for all of my messaging. When I get into group text MMS situations, I've found that outgoing messages send very slowly. The message will appear in the body of the group text area, but will have 'Sending' under it for sometimes 2 or 3 minutes, then followed by '1 min ago via MMS'. Whenever I send SMS texts, I almost always immediately get 'Now via SMS'. Is this normal, or is it possible there is something wrong or something I'm doing wrong?

I have similar slowness. Unfortunately, I communicate daily via text/Hangouts to relatives who have iPhones. These are all Group MMS texts. Frustrating to say the least.

Yup...same issue. This only happens with Apple device users. Might it be just a cross-OS issue?

It's a known issue. Apple's knuckle headed approach makes it so difficult.
