Hangouts reply window size

I've just bought a Nexus 5 and when I type text messages with hangouts I can only see the last 4 lines of the message.

I'm in the habit of sending long texts - 5-6 texts long - with my HTC using their stock messaging app the message would scroll up the screen so I could see it all untill it went off the top of the screen

How can I replicate that with Hangouts on my Nexus, or at least resize the reply so that I can see more than 4 lines?

To answer your question, though, I'm afraid I don't know of a way to change the size of the text input field in Hangouts.

I have found the best way to deal with this is to touch the back button (left-bottom - a downward pointing arrowhead) to view your message in its entirety. Then touch the message pane again to continue typing.

Not ideal, I know, but only a couple of 'clicks' to see all you've typed is a good compromise.

Thanks Guys - I've installed GO SMS Pro which offers what they call 'big edit'
