Help Happy Bay ads in notification area.

I have no idee which app is doing this. I've used Ad Detector (Infolife), AppBrain Ad Detector and Lookout Ad Network Detector to find the culprit, but nowhere do I find the name "Happy Bay".

The notification can't be swiped away, I have to click it to get it to go away.

I've gone over all my apps to see which one I installed just before this happened, but removing that app didn't solve it either.

Any thoughts?

"Happy Bay" is the name of the ad, a detector wouldn't show you this name but it could show you the app on your tablet which created this notification.

But you'd pull down the notification bar, press long on the ad, app info should pop up and show you the culprit app.

Is the ad as icon on the notifiaction bar and you have to pull down it for to see the ad
OR
is it a pop up ad on the middle of your screen?

-I have a tablet with "old" look, so the notification area is in the lower right corner-

Having said that, it's in that area, not a pop-up on the screen.

I've tried Airpush Detector today (recommended from the thread in your post), and it led me to an app I didn't even suspect, because I have it installed a lot longer than the phenomenon with the ads.

I removed that app, and I hope that was that.

I'll keep you posted.

(The app was "Alien Warrior", A Turrican clone)

If it came from that app and you've had it awhile with no issues, it probably came in when the app updated. Sneaky if that's what actually happened!! :D

It really would be, and I think it was indeed the case, because I haven't had an ad so far since removing it.

Too bad I can't use it without ads, because I really liked being able to play that game once in a while. We had an old Commodore 64 (it was old when we got it) at home when I was little, and that was one of the games I loved.

Then again, this version wasn't all that great, bit jerky on the stick (controller).

Any way, thanks a lot, Harry2, that did it for me.

Google is supposed to have banned the notification ad crap from the Play Store. So maybe an updated version available without the notification ads.

I just checked that app out on Google Play and the link to the developers site is dead. LOL!! I went there looking for a change log or something but didn't see a thing. Not many reviews available either.

I see what you mean too, that game is old school for sure. Those games bring back some good memories. I had one of the very 1st Atari consoles that came out back in the day. Berzerk, centipede, tank battle and all those old games. I actually had several emulators on my desktop at one time that I played on occasion too. Still have some of that stuff stored away on an ext HD somewhere with several hundred Nintendo games. :D

As far as my tablet goes, I mostly just play Riptide and several of the racing games.

That Airpush Detector app is a good one to make a backup of with Titanium and hold on to. I've had to use in twice in the past 3 yrs. Found the problem both times too. ;)
