I was wondering how you were going to work a phrase like that into a conversation about computing devices named after pre-AI robots and fruit.

No, I get the reasoning and agree that it has gotten out of hand but basically all they are doing is eliminating people who were trying to win based on the rules of the contest. Until they "added" a rule, no one was doing anything wrong. Annoying yes, but not against the rules. I joined in specifically because it wasn't against the rules and would have been the only hope of winning while everyone else was doing it. Now because the designed it poorly in the first place, I am disqualified. That's pretty gay if you ask me.
