I'm not new to rooting or installing custom ROMs or anything like that. Matter of fact I build computers for a hobby all my life so installing operating systems isn't alien to me. However, there's still a lot of things I could learn or get better at when it comes to the guts of phones. I'm familiar with rooting, and all of that but I haven't really fooled around with custom ROMs all that much. I'm not new to it but not the best.
Well, to make a long story short I was in the middle of getting a custom ROM for it but got super distracted and accidentally downloaded a international ROM although I don't recall the word international being anywhere or I would have easily skipped it. Anyway, didn't realize and I hard bricked my S3 when I went to flash it. Now, yes I did get a little irritated but I didn't really care 100% because my S3 is no longer activated. I've been using it simply as a WIFI device for when my actual phone is charging. Like, If I'm streaming on Twitch on my PS4 I'll use my phone to watch my stream to have access to the chat. I'll use my S3 to do this when my phone needs to be charged.
As I started doing my thing I realized how much I actually used the S3, and decided to do something with it. My bootloader was shot because of the brick so I couldn't do anything with the phone. The only thing I got was a ding when I plugged it into my computer via USB. A jig wouldn't work for me because no bootloader so I couldn't get it into download mode to flash the stock ROM back.
I did some research and found out about JTAG Services on ebay. I sell on ebay myself as well as buy things so I know how to avoid mediocre sellers. There's quite a few people who offer this service but I found one person in particular who replied to me super quickly, has good feedback with people who have used him for this specific thing so for $28 I decided to give it a shot. I got my phone back within a week 100% functional back to stock. I'm super happy to have it back, and I'm super satisfied with this guys JTAG Service.
With that said, I thought I would share my story as well as you provide you guys with this guys page. He does more than just the S3 but if you ever really hard brick your S3 this guy will have it back to perfect working condition super fast. No tricks or games with this guy. Most people will JTAG your phone so it can get into download mode and that's it. You get it back and you have to flash your stock ROM. However, this guy offers to flash your stock ROM for you at no extra cost so I figured I would just have him do it.
I'll probably end up rooting again at some point, and giving it another shot but for right now I'll keep my S3 stock, and continue to use it how I was.
