Help Hard Rest

Trying to do a hard reset on my phone but everytime I do, it goes to update failed. what is the problem

Yes. I want to start from scratch. i tried to do a hard reset but it goes into clockworkmod recovery 3.0.0.5. i dont want that. i figured if i do a hard reset i wont have it and i can install the 3.0.2.8 clockworkmod
 
Look at the beginning of the ultimate ascend guide sticky, there is a link to the guide to flash to stock.
 
1)Attach phone to USB
2)Power Phone Off
3)Enter Fastboot (End Call + Volume Down - while phone turns on)
4)Extract the zip file on your computer and Run script relevant to your OS

metroPCSStock-windows.bat
5) Your phone will automatically reboot

Does it matter if i have the clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 on it.
